As part of the activities for Tianguis Turístico 2025, Mexico’s Minister of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, along with the Consul General of Mexico in San Diego, United States, Alicia Kerber Palma, inaugurated the first “Window to Mexico” tourism promotion office in California.

This new office, located at the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego, will serve to orient the public interested in travel and Mexican culture.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) said that the opening of this office marks the beginning of the Puntos México network—a promotional site where each month, different states have the opportunity to showcase their artistic, culinary, cultural, artisanal, and natural richness.

She also mentioned that this exhibition provides an additional channel to promote Mexico, offering personalized information to those interested in traveling to the country, as well as allowing visitors to tangibly experience the tourist attractions and transportation, lodging, tourism packages, and services available in each destination—supported by videos, photographs, presentations, and promotional materials, among other resources.

Rodríguez Zamora explained that the first state to participate in the San Diego promotional office is Oaxaca, from April 26 to May 1.

“I invite you to keep your eyes on the San Diego Consulate, because starting today, it will be full of life, color, crafts, cuisine—full of Mexico! Thanks Oaxaca for being the host state, and thanks to all the state Tourism Ministers who will join us each month in this new promotional space,” she said.

In her remarks, Kerber Palma explained that “this will be a space for the permanent promotion of Pueblos Mágicos, as well as beaches, archaeological sites, museums, and nature reserves, along with projects such as the Maya Train, the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), and Mexicana Airlines, as part of consular diplomacy.”

Oaxaca Minister of Tourism Saymi Adriana Pineda Velasco praised the presence of Oaxaca, “the cultural heart of Mexico,” in San Diego.

“Today, Oaxaca is present through its textiles, its cuisine, its fine mezcal, our eight cultural regions, and our Guelaguetza. Oaxaca is a land proud of its roots, and what we want is for many people to get to know our state, to visit this July—when the Guelaguetza indigenous cultural festival is held—and during these 30 days, to discover this cultural heart of Mexico,” she emphasized.
