Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora presented the results achieved in the second most successful Tianguis Turístico fair in 50 years, which was recognized with a Guinness Record for the largest attendance at a tourism fair in Mexico.
“The 49th edition was historic, since for the first time Mexico and the United States strengthened their tourism and trade relations. It was inclusive, transformed lives, and brought Shared Prosperity to Baja Californians,” she explained.

Rodríguez Zamora reported that the “Tianguis for all” was attended by 8,781 visitors from 46 countries, who did business with 3,957 exhibitors, 1,187 companies, and 1,773 buyers, 69 percent from the United States and Canada.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism said that with the presence of the country’s 32 states in the fair, 71,882 business appointments were made, of which 50 percent resulted in sales.

“It is the most digitally followed Tianguis Turístico in history, with more than 64 million individual users seeking access,” she said.
The Minister of Tourism also praised the benefits that the leading tourism festival in the Americas brought to the host state. These include the generation of 1.38 billion pesos (US$70.41 million) in revenue, a hotel occupancy rate of over 90 percent, and it was consolidated as the edition of the fair with the highest overnight stay in history.
“What better place than Baja California, the state where Mexico begins, to give this message to the world: Mexico is in fashion,” she declared.
Rodriguez Zamora also reported that the most sought-after tourism segments by buyers were: sun, beach and cruises with 36 percent; culture with 33 percent; nature with 23 percent; adventure with 22 percent; social with 22 percent; culinary with 16 percent, among others.
She reiterated that this was the Tianguis Turístico of airline connectivity, since 28 new international and 7 domestic routes were announced.
The head of Sectur explained that “the innovations implemented in this edition are here to stay,” such as the Dialogue of Captains, where governors, state tourism ministers, community leaders, and experts participated in panels for reflection and to relay knowledge. She also highlighted the free promotional activities and events designed to engage consumers directly in the four municipalities of the state, as well as in San Diego, California.
