The investment that anticipates growth

A 9% increase in investment says more than the figure suggests. In economics, some indicators describe what has already happened and others anticipate what is to come; investment belongs to the second group and is the best indicator of sustained growth. No one commits capital to machinery, infrastructure or jobs without the expectation that the country will keep growing.

The reason is structural. Consumption can rebound in one quarter and give way in the next; investment, by contrast, becomes productive capacity: plants, networks, logistics, suppliers and formal employment that remain and multiply their effect in the years that follow. That is why it is, at the same time, a signal of confidence: whoever invests today reads Mexico as a long-term destination.

The momentum is already visible by sector. Manufacturing and the automotive industry lead the list: the Secretaría de Economía identifies autoparts and electromobility projects in Guanajuato, Estado de México and Querétaro. Non-residential construction follows, which according to INEGI grew 10.6% year on year in June and is the base of industrial parks, logistics and civil works. Financial services, technology and mining add to these, having led the capture of foreign investment in the first quarter of 2026.

Behind those figures are concrete decisions: a school with stable power, an industrial park that opens jobs near home, a logistics route that shortens times. It is not only about attracting capital; it is about giving it direction toward energy, connectivity and territorial development, with clear rules and public planning that make it lasting.

What matters now is to consolidate. Legal certainty, coordination between the public and private sectors, and the alignment of infrastructure with the needs of each region will allow the 9% to be not an isolated data point but the start of a trajectory, and for its benefits to reach more states.

Confidence is not announced: it accumulates. Today it is expressed in investment, and Mexico has the opportunity to grow more because it is already investing in making that so.
