The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, reported that 20.083 million passengers were transported on national and international flights to and from Mexico during January and February 2025.
According to information from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) pointed out that, of the above, 9.557 million correspond to passengers transported on domestic flights.
She specified that this represents an increase of 3.9% compared to the same period in 2024 and 26.1% more than in 2019.
She added that on domestic flights, the airlines with the highest number of passengers in January and February 2025 were VivaAerobus and Volaris, with 6.932 million passengers, 6% more than in 2024 and 84.4% more than in 2019.
On the other hand, Rodríguez Zamora said that 10.526 million passengers were transported on international flights in the first two months of 2025, 2.3% more than in the same period of 2024 and 29.9% more than in 2019.
In turn, it reported that the main Mexican airlines that transported passengers on international flights were Aeroméxico and Volaris in that period, with 2.268 million passengers, 4% more than in 2024 and 45.2% more than in 2019. Likewise, the US airlines with the highest number of passengers were American Airlines and United Airlines, with 2,246 million passengers.
Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora praised the results obtained in the first two months of 2025 and highlighted their importance as a key element in continuing to attract more tourists to Mexico, as well as investments and international events that boost the growth of this activity.
